Warren Malone: “Junkyard”

Released January 1, 2023

“JUNKYARD” is a selection of 8 songs from New York singer-songwriter Warren Malone, some of which have never been recorded before and some of which are live favorites. Recorded in 1 day at Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn, NY, the album represents a fresh approach, taking the songs into a studio with a live band and tracking to tape. The album is a clear representation of the sound: no edits and hardly an overdub. The sound and feel of the music draw heavily on the greatest artists of the 50’s: Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Charlie Rich to name a few. Malone wrote all of the songs except for two, which are covers of traditional blues and gospel. Opting to lead the band with his voice alone, Warren’s voice shines through on the final lyrics of the album, which simply say “Every day has the chance to be a brand new day.”

Kyle Lacy - “Pleasurecraft”

Released: January 20, 2023

Kyle Lacy’s latest album, Pleasurecraft, was a long time in the making. The album title came to him during the making of his first full length release “The Road To Tomorrow” as it was the name of his beloved touring van. After a harrowing car crash and drawing heavily on his experiences of love and loss during the pandemic of 2020, the album came together as a homage to the power of music to heal ourselves. The album is a mix of 80’s soul influences (Think Pointer Sisters & Luther Vandross) and pop like George Michael and Hall and Oates. “When times are hard, you gotta keep moving", simply says “Keep Moving”, and that’s exactly what this album is designed to do, keep you singing and moving along to the beat. The album was self produced by Lacy and features his live band, JC Myska (Drums), Trevor Brown (Bass) and Cole Stone-Frisina (Saxophone).

Mel and the Tall Boys: “You Had to Be There”

Released: June 18, 2023

“This album is a celebration of the creativity and camaraderie that flow whenever a group of likeminded musicians come together. Recorded in 2021 at Rockwood Music Hall, and in 2022 at Nublu, we hope these songs give you the feeling of what it's like to be at one of our shows. I love writing, I love being in the studio, I love letting new ideas come together behind the scenes. But, my true joy is getting people together. Making music with and for people you love is unbeatably wonderful. May we all gather again and again to create new music and new moments together.
xx Mel”

Musicians: Mel Johnston, JC Myska, Kyle Lacy, Andy Bell, Joe Cogen
